EA Rod Licence

Fishing Licence

In the UK you need a fishing licence to fish for freshwater fish. Children under 12 don’t need a licence. However, if you take a child under 12 fishing and hold the rod or help hold it you must buy a licence for yourself. You must always carry your rod licence when you’re fishing or you could be prosecuted and fined up to £2500. We have received visits from the Environment Agency Inspectors this season so we recommend that you purchase your licence before you fish here.

From April 2017 a few things are changing with fishing licences. For example:

  •  12 month licences will now be valid for a full year from their start date - so you can purchase them  at any time of the year
  • Junior licences (for those between the ages of 12 and 16) will now be free - but are still required.
  • You will be able to buy one licence that allows you to fish with up to 3 rods for coarse fish.

Also, this year, the price for a coarse fishing licence is increasing by £3 to £30 pa.
